A beautiful state situated on the banks of the Arabian Sea, which remains a center of attraction for every Indian as well as foreign tourists. Goa is known for its beaches. Thousands of tourists come here every month to visit the beautiful plaintiffs. On 30 May 1987, this state was given official status. Goa was earlier a part of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. On January 31, 1888, the Mormugao Railway line was connected to the Southern Maratha Railway at Carranzole-Castle Rock. This railway line was inaugurated by the then Portuguese Governor General Cardojo de Carvalho and Lord Ray, the then Governor of Bombay.

There are 10 railway stations in the Karwar Division of the Konkan Railway Zone and the 09 railway stations in the Hubli Division of the South Western Railway Zone.
